December 11, 2006 - Working Out the Drama

Before I begin, I just want to say that I took an extra day to gather my thoughts and to make sure I wasn't going to post something that I regret. Anyway, this past weekend, I had a great time in Austin at my friend's annual holiday party. I managed to walk away with a copy of Quake 4 for PC from the White Elephant Gift Exchange. But, nothing is ever perfect. There was some drama over the weekend.

I'm keeping this as anonymous as I can, but here's the back story as I understand it. Person A is a really good friend of mine. Person B is another really good friend of mine who hosted the holiday party. Person C is Person B's wife. Person D is Person C's sister and Person E is Person D's boyfriend. I'll give you a few minutes to read that over again. You good? Okay, so in the time since I moved back to San Antonio almost two years ago, Person A and Person D started to hang out quite a bit. They went out a few times and things were good. Well, what Person A didn't know was that Person D was also dating Person E at the same time. Person A found out that hard way when Persons D and E starting making out at a party they were all attending. Yeah, I know it hurt Person A...a lot. More than he'll say, but he's been able to get on with his life and deal with it. The only correspondence now is that Person D is paying back Person A the money she borrowed from him...which is quite a bit as I understand it.

After the invitations for last weekend's past were sent (via email), Person D apparantly expressed concerns to Person C about Person A being at the party. Person D stated she didn't want Person A at the party and Person C told her husband Person B who relunctantly sent an email to Person A explaining the situation and de-inviting him from the party. Person A did the mature thing and responding to the email saying it was cool. Person A did later on ask Person D why she didn't want him there and she said it was simply because of the money...which is total bullshit.

Anyway, in support of Person A, I made a shirt asking where he was. I wore it to the party. Person B loved it. Person C loved it. Person E said it was interesting. Person D got all pissy. Person D tried to confront me about it and I just asked what he did to her and for her side of the story. She made up some story about Person A cussing her out during some trip to Mexico and did the usual drama queen sympathy cry. I know she was lying because (1) my ex taught me how to tell when a women is lying and (2) no one else can confirm the story she made up. I apologized to Person D only so we could get through the party drama free.

Damn...that's a lot of back story there. Well, here's my take on it. Person B got used... plain and simple. The great thing about it is that he knows that but doesn't hold anything against Person D. He doesn't hate Person D and he's over what she did. He's cool with just being friends. So what's stopping it? Person E...an over jealous guy who is the real reason Person A got de-invited. Knowing him, he probably expressed his concern's about Person A attending to Person D and the rest is history. He simply didn't want Person A there because he knows Persons A and D have a history.

Those who know the situation know who I'm talking about. To Person A, I'm happy you aren't fretting over this. You rock man. Live it up! To Person B, again, I'm sorry a little argument got started. I had a blast and didn't get to say bye because you were attending to your daughter. See you online for Quake 4? That's all I need to address here. If anyone else involved in all this wants to comment, you need only email and say something. But be mature about it. If you start ranting like a 5 year old, I'm just gonna laugh and not take you seriously.

Happy Holidays Everybody. And this was easily the best idea I've ever had.

Where's Sadlo?

December 3, 2006 - Catching Up on Things

Okay, so the last time I put something here, I had just gotten a car again. I guess I've been enjoying that luxury quite a bit since I haven't updated my website in a long while. I am doing well, so no worries there.

I was able to attend a Longhorn game in Austin when they played Oklahoma State. It was my first time there since I got to see them make a title run last year. I had a blast...and Godzillatron is HUGE! Unfortunately, so bad luck hit the 'Horns and they lost the next two games after the victory over the Cowboys. But that means that the Burnt Orange and White are coming to San Antonio for this year's Alamo Bowl. Needless to say, I already have my tickets.

The Spurs also started their seemingly endless season and are currently sitting at 12-5. I love my Spurs, but the NBA season is just too damn long. Still, this should be a great year for them.

Well, that's about really all I can say for now. Sorry I'm not so talkative now, but at least I put something, right? I'll try to keep up more often.

October 23, 2006 - Stop and Smell the Roses

This past weekend, I really got a chance to look back on everything that has happened since I moved back to San Antonio in December 2004. My life, then, was crazy. And now here I am. I now own a car. I can get a loan without the need of a co-signer. It is a relief because I've just been going through all this without thought for how much I have been progressing. Now, I can look back at all this and smile.

I must say that I've had nothing but the best support from friends and family which has made this all that much sweeter. My thanks to my parents is no secret. You let me move back home and gave me the chance to turn this all around. All my friends have been there, but a special thanks does go to Big Mike, Jesse, and Princess Jea-neato. Mike, you been nothing but THE best friend since high school. Thanks for all the rides whenever I needed them and for sticking by me. Jesse, you rock man. You and I have both been a big motivation to each other to keep going and to keep getting better whether it be at a video game or the crazy road of life. Princess Jea-neato, you've been so great. You and I have been through the worst of experiences in life and we've stuck with it and just continue to keep putting a smile on each other's face. Thank you so very much for sticking by me...even when I fell asleep while you were teaching.

The biggest thank you definitely goes to my sister. Hard to believe that it has been almost two years since I came back and in that time, we've only grown closer. I love you so very much and I can't thank you enough for all the support you've given.

I'm amazed at how far I've come but I know how much I have yet to finish. I guess it is nice to stop and smell the roses when the opportunity arises. Well, there's more work to be done.

October 2, 2006 - The Red River War

It's coming... One of the greatest rivalries in sports continues this Saturday when Texas and Oklahoma meet in the Cotton Bowl for the annual Red River Rivalry game. No matter the record or the ranking, the season means nothing if you don't win THIS game. The 101st meeting begins at 2:30 pm this Saturday.

Things have been well recently. Over the weekend, I got to hang with a few friends of mine from Houston. Once again, I must congratulate Crow for winning his second straight Evo championship for Tekken 5. Great games this weekend and great conversation as well. I appreciate the few pointers in CvS2 as well. Also great to see Vick again and great to meet Mucha Lucha. See y'all down the road.

King of Fighters 2006 (aka King of Fighters: Maximum Impact 2) is really awesome. The pace of the game is very quick, but very technical at points...and Hattori Hanzo from the Samurai Shodown series is playable...and he owns. Let me just say this, my friend, Jesse, plays the best Mai I have ever seen (2D or 3D). Props to that, but I'm gonna catch up that soon and start owning up again.

Aside from all that I had a great conversation with some good company. You ever find yourself speaking to someone and while you're talking with that person, you finally realize that they just get you? Well, if not, let me just say that it is a really cool feeling. I've never been one to care too much what other people think of me (except as necessary), but talking to someone like that really makes life that much easier to live through. I'd say work today was probably one of the craziest days I've ever had...but I got through it without losing my smile. That's something amazing.

September 16, 2006 - Crazy Day in Football

Today was a much needed lazy day for me, but a great day for any football fan out there. ESPN called this weekend Separation Saturday. They couldn't have been more right. This weekend featured so many matchups between some of the top teams in the nation and really separated the elite teams from the good teams. You don't get weekends like this in the NFL.

This past week was crazy busy so the lazy day was much deserved. I did attend a wedding for Big Mike's older sister, Christina. It's kinda weird seeing that because I still remember when she gave me a ride to school all during my sophomore year in high school. Crazy huh? She is a really cool person and I'm happy for her. Congrats Christina and Steven.

Aside from that, I've picked up on the Lonelygirl15 YouTube videos. For those who don't know, this is a series of YouTube Video Blogs that are so well done, many people believed them to be made by a real person. As it turns out, the 15 year old Bree is played by a 19 year old actress named Jessica Rose who just moved to Los Angeles from New Zealand. She has some great talent. Anyway, the series has a good story so far and is filmed mostly with a web cam with an internal mic. I definitely recommend checking this out.

September 9, 2006 - You Can't Win 'Em All

Streaks have to end sometime. The Longhorns' streak ended at 21. But I would rather the 'Horns lose to Ohio State to end it rather than anyone else. Texas and Ohio State: two of the greatest football programs of all time met for the first two times in history in the past two years. We won last year in Columbus and they won this year in Austin. It is only fitting that the series would be 1-1. While I'm sad the 'Horns have lost, I'm grateful it was early enough in the season to where we can make some ground up. Though...I do feel sorry for Rice...

It's crazy how busy I've been. I've even forgotten to update the Longhorn section on my pictures page (yes, THAT busy). Still, I'm doing well. My favorite time of year (football season) has begun so that puts my mind at ease when it all just gets a little stressful.

All that and the 6th season of Smallville will be premiering soon...September 28 to be exact. Smallville jumps to the new CW and this season looks to be great with the roles of Jimmy Olsen and Oliver Queen aka "The Green Arrow" having been cast. There is maybe only one of two more seasons left and the series just gets on better and better.

All that...and I got to play a little Kingdom Hearts II. That game is just so awesome!

August 19, 2006 - Yet Another Busy Month

So busy...too busy it seems, but at least I like my job :-) We finally launched the Outbound Dialer at work and that is going well. Some bugs here and there but those will get worked out.

I've been so busy, I haven't gotten a chance to play Kingdom Hearts II in a while. No biggie. My friend, Mike, did finally get a PS2 so we've been rocking WWE Smackdown vs. RAW 2006. And once a week we play NCAA Football 2007. It is extremely tough this year because Texas doesn't have VY...and worse...Mike plays Notre Dame. Jeff Samardzija is unbelievably good at that game and I lost 6 games to Mike before I finally won one...and West Virginia was the team to beat the Irish. It was a great game and two big plays with 19 seconds left allowed me to win the game on a field goal as time expired. Easily, an ESPN Instant Classic.

Finally, I'd like to say congratulations to my cousin, Michelle, who has graduated from college. It's been a very tough road but she made it and I know the whole family is proud of her. Congrats Michelle. I don't have many words of wisdom here so I'll just quote Sting here..."It's SHOWTIME, folks!"

July 16, 2006 - One Busy Month

Work has been busy since my return from San Francisco, but it has been enjoyable nonetheless. Aside from work, so much has happened in the last month. I have gotten to see Superman Returns...twice. I'm just waiting for our IMAX theater to get it so I can watch it in IMAX 3D. I have also seen the second Pirates of the Caribbean movie as well. The Dallas Mavericks didn't win the NBA Championship...that's awesome. There are only 48 days left until football season. And I'm gonna be at WWE RAW tomorrow night when it finally returns to San Antonio.

This past week we also got a new dog. My sister found her at the Humane Society. And she's a basset hound. Mom decided to name her Molly. I don't have any pictures up yet, but all you need to do is look at my pictures of Maddie. Molly and Maddie look so much alike, it's crazy.

I'm glad I finally got a chance to add another entry here. As busy as I get now, I'm gonna try to make more time to update this. But I am doing well, so no worries there.

June 11, 2006 - Return from San Francisco

This past week, I took my second business trip to San Francisco and had a great time. My rental was a Subaru Outback and I had a pretty sweet hotel at the La Quinta in South San Francisco. I was able to drive across the Golden Gate Bridge, visit Saualito, visit the Muir Woods, and made a drive to Sunnyvale to visit the famous Golfland arcade there...where on Wednesday nights, $6 means unlimited arcade games. The setup was awesome. I have plenty of pictures of my two trips to the city by the bay and I'm working on a page for this website that will display them all. Hopefully that'll be up soon.

Also, last night, I went with my parents to the Rivercenter Comedy Club to see one of my favorite comedians, Gabrial Iglesias. "Fluffy" was hilarious and even had his own special set of jokes for the San Antonio area. It was an amazing show and if he ever comes to your neck of the woods, I would recommend checking his show out. Look for a list of his tour dates at his website www.fluffyguy.com Also look for him on NBC's Last Comic Standing.

So all that is going on and I have restarted Kingdom Hearts II under the Proud difficulty. Unlike most games, the difference in the difficulty is evident from the start. This should be a lot of fun.

May 29, 2006 - Return from Austin

This weekend, I made a trip to Austin after having not been there since September. I found that I still do miss everything and everyone in that town, but I had a blast getting to see all of my friends again. Special thanks to Matt for letting this poor Mexican crash at his place. It was great to see everyone.

In other news, I finally completed all of Jiminy's Journal in Kingdom Hearts II and made my way to the final battle with Xemnas this morning and completed the game on Standard difficulty. The ending is awesome and the secret ending that previews Kingdom Hearts III has simply left me wondering what SquareEnix will think up next. Now it is time to go back and do it all over again on Hard difficulty. I got time. The new Zelda game doesn't come out till September anyway.

May 22, 2006 - Had to wait...

We got by Sacramento but I wanted to wait until the big series with Dallas was over before I added another blog. The best basketball series ever played has just passed. Game 7 was a heartbreaker, and this was one way to ignite an already heated rivalry. It was very fitting that this final game went into overtime. It simply came down to who wanted it more. This year, Dallas did.

No, I'm not jumping on any bandwagons. Like any true Spurs fan, I'm split. I hate the Mavericks and I hope Steve Nash and the Suns beat them down in the next round. But I'll forever be a fan of the "Little General". And I would love to see A.J. win a title as a coach.

Still, it is bittersweet to grow up a fan of championship teams. For that year that you win it all, nothing can bring you down, but the title defense will end in a loss, and heartbreak will happen. But to say that I've celebrated with my fellow Spurs fans three times and to have seen the UT tower in Austin lit orange three times as well ('02 and '05 seasons for baseball, '05 season for football) is truly something remarkable. Teams who live to beat their rival and call it a great year are missing out. Yes, it is always great to win a rivalry game, but the feeling when you win a championship is simply indescribable.

I'll forever wear silver and black and I'll always bleed orange.

May 1, 2006 - Relaxed

April passed by and we got hardly any rain at all. Oh well. Fiesta is gone for 2006 and every year it seems to go by all too quickly. Still Oyster Bake was a blast, but I don't think I'm ever gonna go back to NIOSA until they move it to Hemisfair Park. Don't get me wrong, I love La Villita...but it is just too damn crowded!

The NBA playoffs have started and my beloved Spurs have found themselves in a dog fight with those pesky Sacramento Kings. With the series tied 2-2, Game 5 is gonna be huge.

And finally, Vince Young is heading to Tennessee. What surprised me most about this year's NFL Draft was that LenDale White was a 2nd round pick and was also picked up by Tennessee. The Titans are gonna be great in the coming years. Reggie "Overrated" Bush ended up going 2nd overall to Hurricane Central while Matt "Pretty Boy" Leinart fell to 10th overall and goes to Arizona. I can't help but laugh!

Here's how the Longhorns fared this year:
First Round
3. Vince Young - Tennessee Titans
7. Michael Huff - Oakland Raiders
Second Round
48. Cedric Griffin - Minnesota Vikings
Third Round
86. David Thomas - New England Patriots
Fifth Round
141. Jonathan Scott - Detroit Lions
Seventh Round
226. Rod Wright - Miami Dolphins

Congrats to y'all and good luck. And once more, thank you so much for everything you've done for Texas. You may not wear a Longhorn on your helmet again but you will always bleed orange. Hook 'em!

April 19, 2006 - Mixing up Kingdom Hearts II and Tekken

Okay, so some of the H-town Tekken players came into SA for a visit last weekend and I had a poor showing. But that's what happens after playing Kingdom Hearts II till 3 or 4 in the morning on consecutive nights. I swear I kept trying to air recover when I got launched into a juggle. Still it was all fun hanging with some of the Houston crew. I had fun.

Fiesta is fast approaching. I can't wait for the city sponsored reason to get a buzz and party. I just love San Antonio.

Oh, and I just re-did my review page. I'm no longer doing movie reviews. I see too many movies to review them all. I hope you like what's replaced it.

April 9, 2006 - Kingdom Hearts II RULES!

I just...WOW! That's all I can say about Kingdom Hearts II. I'm about 18 hours in and it is simply awesome. The boss battles are so well thought out and the mini-games are a lot better. My only complaint so far is the voice acting of Mena Suvari as Aerith Gainsborough from Final Fantasy VII. I've only had one scene where Aerith was talking...and it was horrible. Suvari keeps her voice so monotone it's sick. Aerith was a peppy girl in FF7 and the first Kingdom Hearts. Why didn't they bring back Mandy Moore? Lame.

And on top of all that, Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection just hit San Antonio. It's at Cyberzone in Ingram Mall...which sucks because it is only open till 9:00. No worries, SA is still a top quality Tekken town and we'll be competing with the rest of Texas in no time.

Okay, not much more to say here except...back to Kingdom Hearts II.

Currently I am at Level 31. Valor Form is at level 4 and Wisdom Form is at level 4. Best line in the game so far goes to Seifer from Final Fantasy VIII in Twilight Town. "Why does looking at you always tick me off?"

March 31, 2006 - Last Day on the Phones

Today is my last day as a Call Center Representative. I'll begin my awesome new position on Monday and I can't wait. It'll be a really great experience for me and I know I'm gonna take a lot from it.

I have picked up my copy of Kingdom Hearts II, a game I have been waiting three long years for. I'm so glad it's here and I know I'll be playing my fair share of it this weekend. I've kept up with so much news of it and seen so many videos of it on the internet that I am anxiously awaiting the first time I will load the game up.

Also, I'm looking forward to a Culebra Crew Reunion and Wrestlemania 22. These are two "events" that should be a lot of fun.

And that's really all I have to say for now. If you don't hear from me in a while, you'll know why.

March 24, 2006 - It's All Coming Soon

I've been saving my money up for the coming days. Where do I begin?

First off, Kingdom Hearts II is just four days away. I still remember when I beat Kingdom Hearts for the first time and have been waiting since then for the sequel. That was three years ago.

Also, on the 28th, two of my favorite movies of 2005 will hit DVD--King Kong and Memoirs of a Geisha. Thank you, Mike, for the $30 gift card to Target for my birthday.

And, of course, Wrestlemania 22, is just nine days away. While I don't think the card will compare to Wrestlemania X-Seven, there is nothing like this 4-hour annual event. The match I am looking forward to most the triple threat match for the World Heavyweight Title. I'll be cheering for Rey Mysterio to win that one.

So that is what's all coming soon. Also, congrats to the 'Horns for an amazing victory last night to move on in the NCAA tournament. LSU is next. Hook 'em Horns!

March 14, 2006 - One Year at World

I was in for a suprise today I must say. I knew today was special. It was the first time I'd held a full-time job at one place for a full year. What was amazing was how well everyone at work was ready to celebrate it. Everyone chipped in and got me a sweet Dale Earnhardt, Jr. cap, a new pocket organizer, some stick-it notes, and a bunch of jelly beans. But the icing on the cake (literally) was awesome. This was the first time ever I'd gotten a burnt orange cake and it was so cool.

Burnt Orange Cake

I really enjoy working at World and have enjoy working for a company that actually cares for its employees. I've appreciated every oppotunity that I have been given starting with them offering me a job in the first place. My resume wasn't exactly impressive, but they took a chance on me. I can't thank them enough for that.

A special thank you to my cousin, Michelle, who visited this past weekend and brought along a really great birthday present that definitely take good care of. It is number 4498 of 6500 limited edition Superman statues that was designed by Jim Lee and sculpted by Tim Bruckner. Simply put, it is awesome.

The Man of Steel

I just love March. It's the perfect month and this is the time where everything really does begin to feel like a new year. I'm now 25 and one week old and the remaining 51 weeks all look promising.

Finally, I want to send a special message to my good friend, Ivy. I just want you to know that I am here for you. I know that what has happened simply isn't fair considering how hard you have worked. Keep your chin up. Things happen for a reason. Life may suck right now, but it does go on. I will be here for you if you need help along the way.

March 7, 2006 - Turning 25

Here it all is, my life has hit the quarter-century. Sure, that's nothing when you consider the fact that I have a great-grandfather who is 101 (and still going), but it is nice to know that I have made it this far. Thankfully, February came and went and the party month known as March has begun.

March is pretty much my lucky month. The Spurs always get going in the month of March, we have the great college basketball phenomenom known as March Madness, and in March of last year I was offered a job after spending three months unemployed. Needless to say, good things happen to me. 3 and 7 are my lucky numbers being that I was born on 3/7. I was born in March (3rd month) and my sister in July (7th month). What's even cooler about that is that the day of the week my birthday falls on is the same day of the week that my sister's and father's birthdays fall on as well. Kinda cool, huh?

I could go on and on, but I'll stop letting everyone know that if you don't know what to get me this year, don't worry. Gift Cards Rule...especially if there are for EB Games or Circuit City.

And if you need any other reason why this day is important, remember this little tidbit. On this day in 1876, Alexander Graham Bell was granted patent #174,464. His invention: the telephone.

Same Day Update

Birthday went great today. Dinner was at the Spaghetti Warehouse and I got a new pair of sweet Nike shoes and an iPod Nano. As great as it was, it is sad to see that Dana Reeve, widow of Christopher Reeve, has passed. She's a truly remarkable woman who will be missed. I invite you all to "Go Forward" and donate to the Christopher Reeve Foundation.

February 24, 2006 - Surviving February

It has been a very busy month as is evidenced by the fact that I haven't posted a new blog entry in a while. February has just been an extremely busy time, but I am somehow surviving what has traditionally been my bad luck month. Thankfully, there are only four more days left of hell month and my birthday is on the horizon.

The game I have been anticipating for close to three years is now on the horizon. Of course I am talking about Kingdom Hearts II. As more and more information is released, I have become more and more excited about this game and simply can't wait to take control of Sora again and lead him on his new adventure. The release date is March 28. My birthday is March 7. $50 gift cards to EB Games is sure looking like a good present for me right now. :-)

The whole debt repayment process is going well. I've just finished paying another one off this month so I'm about halfway there. It'll be such a relief when it is all gone.

Finally, I want everyone to be looking for the reality show The Ultimate Coyote Ugly Search. when it airs on CMT. I happened to be at Coyote Ugly when they were filming and was enjoying the magic that is reality television when I suddenly found the camera giving me a close-up and I checked out a couple of the candidates. I didn't have a line but I gave my seal of approval. A special thanks to my friend Christine, a Coyote here in SA, who invited me out that night. It was awesome.

January 24, 2006 - ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY

At exactly this time last year, I started up this website under a free web server just to give me something to do while I hunted for a job. In a year's time, it has earned it's own domain name and has kept me sane at times. Today, Nakofan64.net is a one year old. Time to celebrate...someone get me a beer and let's play Tekken 5!

I can only wish Vince Young good luck as he makes the jump into the hypocritical world that is the NFL. My only hope is that he doesn't end up in New Orleans. Granted, I enjoyed watching the Saints in San Antonio, but the hurricane prone French Quarter isn't exactly attractive to me. Now if Houston would just trade David Carr...ROAD TRIP!

The 100th episode of Smallville is set to air this Thursday night. This one has been anticipated since the third episode of this season, when Clark found out that someone he loves will die. Clark is also expected to reveal his secret to Lana (FINALLY!). I'm predicting that both Jonathan Kent (Clark's father) and Lionel Luthor (Lex's father) will die in this episode. That will ultimately trigger the Superman vs. Lex Luthor rivalry.

And finally I must comment on the upcoming Playstation 2 release known as Kingdom Hearts 2. For three years now, I have waited for this sequel. I've been waiting ever since I first beat Kingdom Hearts. It's finally set to hit North American audiences this March (just in time for my birthday) and I can't wait. I have long said that Kingdom Hearts is the best game on PS2. KH2 looks like it is going to surpass it.

January 6, 2006 - 2005 National Champions

Reggie Bush should just hand his Heisman trophy over to Vince Young.
-- Big Mike

I couldn't have said it better myself. With 6 minutes to go and the 'Horns down 12, I couldn't help but think how very similar the situation was to when Texas visited Ohio State last September. I just knew in my heart the Vince Young was about to go from Longhorn Superstar to Longhorn Legend.

And after the Texas D stopped the Trojans on 4th and 2, the Vince-sanity continued. He put the weight of the 'Horns on his shoulders and led a drive that showed who the true Heisman is and who the better team is. This, for me, was bigger than any Spurs NBA Championship. My beloved Texas Longhorns were #1 and national champions for the first time in my lifetime. And they did it by winning the greatest football game ever played.

It was so hard to sleep that night, and while I made it to work the next day with bags under my eyes, it was a good day. I don't know if it has fully hit me that my #1 team is finally #1 in the nation. The tears still appear every now and then. I'll never forget this as long as I live, and I'm gonna be celebrating all weekend.

The Crystal Football is coming home to Texas. Hook 'em Horns!
